The Onalaska D.A.R.E program will hold its First Annual D.A.R.E. to Be Fit 1k Fun Run on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 9:00-11:00am (K-2nd grade 9-10am and 3-5th grade 10-11am). Funds raised will help not only keep the D.A.R.E. program in the Onalaska Schools, but also jump start summer outdoor activities and provide healthy snack options. The 1k Fun Run will include one lap around Rowe Park and the participation in 4 activity centers. Each center will focus on balance, coordination and exercise. As each participant finishes an activity center, they will receive a wristband. Once the participants have completed the 1k and have received all 4 wristbands, they will receive a D.A.R.E. to BE FIT t-shirt at the finish line and enjoy a healthy snack at the food table. Festival Foods invites you to its ever-popular Wine & Beer Tasting event to benefit Steppin’ Out in Pink. If you’re in the mood for an enjoyable evening, mark your calendar for this event.

Festival Foods and Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation are pleased to present this 5th annual event at a beautiful venue along the river—the Cargill Room at Riverside Center South, 332 Front Street, La Crosse.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet area wine experts, taste all the wine and beer they care to enjoy, sample breads, cheeses and desserts, and dip fruit in the chocolate fountain. There will be a great selection, with more than 60 different types of specialty beer and wine to sample, all while being entertained with a string quartet.

You can also look forward to a free collectible wine glass, silent auction and door prize drawing at the end of the evening.

Best of all, 100% of the proceeds will be used to support the Norman L. Gillette Jr. Cancer Research Fellowship, breast cancer research initiatives of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation, as well as awareness programs and patient services at the Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care. This year, a portion of the dollars raised will also provide free mammograms for uninsured or underinsured patients in our region.

Tickets are $30 each (or two for $50) and are on sale at all Festival Foods locations—La Crosse - Copeland, La Crosse - Village Onalaska, and Holmen. You can also purchase tickets at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation, 3rd floor of the Clinic in La Crosse, Gundersen Lutheran Credit Union.

THERE ARE FIVE ROUTES: CHILDREN 6 & UNDER RIDE FREE!

Takin' the Trail - 5 or more miles on the Great River Bike Trail. GREAT for families with young children. (For those 7 and older: $10 pre-registration, $15 day of tour, We pay trail pass for one adult with children);

Pedalin' the Plains - a 16-mile, relatively flat route on the road, for those who are new to cycling or just want to cruise (For those 7 and older - $15 pre-registration, $20 day of tour).

Cruisin' the Coulees - 32 miles for stronger riders - moderate, rolling hills ($20 pre-registration, $25 day-of tour); and

Hammerin' the Hills - 62 miles with rolling hills and two major climbs. Incredible scenery, great for the experienced cyclists ($20 pre-registration, $25 day of tour).

Battlin' the Bluffs- A true century. Test your stamina on the 100-mile challenge. Riders please start no later than 8:00 AM, preferably at 7:30 to ensure completion prior to closure of rest stops.

Free t-shirts to those who pre-register, and as supplies last on the day of the tour. Riders will be treated with free lunch, refreshments before, during and after the tour. Includes Rest stops and sag wagon support.
