On-Air » Retro Magic with Doug Williams - Saturdays » Bio
I am a small town boy that moved to the big city. Growing up in Norwalk, WI, I was always interested in music and technology (yes..I am a "geek") but my musical interest took on a life of its own when, at the age of twelve (1978), my father brought home a box of 45s he found at the dump. The little record with the big hole, started my collecting of records that, at times, has been an obsession.
I moved to La Crosse after graduating from Brookwood High School (go Falcons!) in 1984 to study Electro-Mechanical Technology (aka robotics).
My introduction to radio was around 1990 when a local radio station had guest hosts for their Saturday morning classic rock show. I applied, guest hosted and eventually became one of the shows rotating hosts. I also did a pre-recorded one hour show at midnight on the same station that allowed me to play songs from my growing music collection.
I've been with the La Crosse Radio Group since about 1995-96 and have been mainly on Magic 105.
In the latter part of 2002 I approached Debbie Brague about doing a live 80s request show. Playing songs not normally heard, going a little deeper into the archives. From that conversation, Retro Magic was "born" February 1st 2003.
When I'm not playing "The Biggest Hits of the 80s..And Some Of The Hits Best Left There", I work with technology and manage an IS Department (computers). I spend time with my wonderful wife Lori and I frequent... The Record Room. Take a look at what can happen when your dad brings home someone's garbage... visit The Record Room.
